Scholarship Programs

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship Program:

Zonta International offers 35 US$10,000.00 fellowships to post-graduate fellowships to women in the fields of aeronautics and aeronautical engineering at the Ph.D. level. Amelia Earhart visited Halifax in 1928.

The Zonta Club of Halifax had its very first Amelia Earhart winner, Zohreh Asaee, who has successfully defended her Ph.D in Engineering at Dalhousie University and has been awarded a Port-Doctorate Fellowship at Waterloo University. Zohreh's membership has been transferred to the Zonta Club of Kitchener Waterloo.

The Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Program:

The YWPA program offers recognition and awards at district and international level for outstanding young women who are making a difference in their world through service. Deadline for the 2018 YWPA Award was February 28, 2018.

The Zonta Club of Halifax will celebrate the 2018 winner of the YWPA Award at the Awards Dinner and Silent Auction, Thursday, May 24, 2018, 6:00 p.m. at the Officers' Mess, CFB Stadacona, Halifax.


Deadline for receipt of the 2018 YWPA application was February 28th, 2018. The Zonta Club of Halifax winner of the 2018 YWPA Award will be celebrated at the Awards Dinner and Silent Auction at CFB Halifax (Stadacona), Thursday, May 24, 2018. Our Club winner will receive C$1,000.00 whose application will then be forwarded to District I for competition at that level. The YWPA winner at District will be awarded US$1,000.00 and her application will be forwarded to Zonta International to compete for one of the 10 YWPA awards of US$4,000.00. The Jane M. Klausman Scholarship Program:

The Jane M. Klausman Scholarship Program (JMK) provides college/university scholarships to women in business programmes at the bachelor or master level. Deadline was midnight March 31, 2018. 

The JMK Scholarship winner will be celebrated at the Zonta Club of Halifax Awards Dinner and Silent Auction, Thursday, May 24, 2018, 6:00 p.m. at the Officers' Mess, CFB Halifax (Stadacona). T

 

The Halifax Award:

The Halifax Award of C$1,000.00 is open to women studying at the Nova Scotia Community College to improve their lives through education. Application is made through the Nova Scotia Community College Foundation.
