The Amelia Earhart Fellowship Program:
Zonta International offers 35 US$10,000.00 fellowships to post-graduate fellowships to women in the fields of aeronautics and aeronautical engineering at the Ph.D. level. Amelia Earhart visited Halifax in 1928. The Zonta Club of Halifax had its very first Amelia Earhart winner, Zohreh Asaee, who has successfully defended her Ph.D in Engineering at Dalhousie University and has been awarded a Port-Doctorate Fellowship at Waterloo University. Zohreh's membership has been transferred to the Zonta Club of Kitchener Waterloo.
The Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Program:
The YWPA program offers recognition and awards at district and international level for outstanding young women who are making a difference in their world through service. Deadline for the 2020 YWPA Award was February 28, 2020.
The Zonta Club of Halifax YWPA winner will receive C$1,000.00 whose application will then be forwarded to District I for competition at that level. The YWPA winner at District will be awarded US$1,000.00 and her application will be forwarded to Zonta International to compete for one of the 10 YWPA awards of US$4,000.00. The 2021 YWPA Application will be uploaded to this site as soon as it becomes available.
The Zonta Club of Halifax is pleased to announce the 2020 YWPA Award winner, Isobel Cameron, Citadel High School. Isobel's successful application will be forwarded to District I to compete at that level.
Johanna Gysbertsen, Prince Andrew High School, has been awarded the Zonta Club of Halifax Women's Advancement Award.
The Jane M. Klausman Scholarship Program (JMK) provides college/university scholarships to women in business programmes at the 2nd year bachelor's or master's level. Applications are now closed for 2020.
The 2020 JMK Scholarship process is now complete. Our Club winner will receive C$1,000.00 and her application will be forwarded to compete at the District I level where the winner there will receive US$2,000.00 with her application then forwarded to the Zonta International level where one of 32 international awards of US$8,000.00 is awarded.
The Halifax Award
The Halifax Award of C$1,000.00 is open to women studying at the Nova Scotia Community College to improve their lives through education. Application is made through the Nova Scotia Community College Foundation.
